CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION TRAINING PROGRAM

Topic: BASIC MEDICAL PEDAGOGY

The program is developed and implemented within the framework of the continuing education function of the Center for Support & Continuing Education (under the Vietnam Medical Association).


I. Organization & Student Management

Presiding Unit: Center for Support & Continuing Education.

Organization Conditions: When the number of registered students is ≥ 15.

Student Management: In-person attendance check at the beginning and end of each training session and/or management via the center’s software; each practice group not exceeding 05 students.

Training Format: In-person and online.

Training Location: Center for Support & Continuing Education – Hall/meeting room and practice facilities (Hospital/Lab/Medical facility…)

Total Duration: 40 periods (1 period = 50 minutes).

Note: Practice facilities are adjusted according to the actual implementation of the training program.


II. Program Objectives and Content

Program Objectives: Students can design, implement, and evaluate lectures or clinical practice sessions using modern methods. Students master the skill of designing objectives according to KAS standards (Knowledge – Attitude – Skills) and proficiently apply active teaching methods.

Program Content:

  • Overview of medical pedagogy: Role and characteristics
  • Designing learning objectives according to KAS standards
  • Classification and selection of traditional and modern teaching methods
  • Presentation skills and professional pedagogical communication
  • Practice designing and presenting a complete lecture
  • Assessment in medical education: Designing questions and tests
  • Practice guiding students at clinical facilities

Training Methods

  • A combination of online and in-person for theory; in-person for the practice module.
  • Interactive presentations, group discussions to enhance initiative, and self-study.
  • Practical teaching via demonstration, checklists, and “hands-on instruction” methods at the practice facility.

III. Assessment & Certification

Participation Duration: Minimum 80% of theory duration and 100% of practice duration.

Assessment: Input, process, and output evaluation; achieving a minimum of 80% total score and meeting all evaluation criteria.

Certification: CME certificate – Topic: Basic Medical Pedagogy; valid for fulfilling updating responsibilities according to Circular 32/2023/TT-BYT.
